Mission San Miguel de Arcangel

Nickname: Mission near Paso Robles, built July 25th, 1797, 16th mission.

Impressions:

"Chapel was awesome! Whole thing was super well preserved."

Special Attractions:
  • Has the best preserved mission interior.
  • Has the original statuary from the settlement.
  • The triple bell tower is amazing!
Significant Events:
  • In 1806 a fire destroyed some of the buildings.
Interesting Facts:
  • After the adobe bricks were laid the walls were scored with diagonal lines in order to have a better surface for the plaster to adhere to.
Don't Miss:

The El Camino Real cross carved into the tree, and the cool food introduction flip chart.
