La Purisima Conception

Nickname: Our Lady's Mission, built December 8th, 1787, 11th mission.

Impressions:

"Gigantic! Super great animals and cool artifacts. Could explore for days!

Special Attractions:
  • Very authentic and educational kid-centered recreations of original mission activities.
  • Zoo with all the animals the mission originally kept.
Significant Events:
  • Destroyed by an earthquake in 1812 and rebuilt.
Interesting Facts:
  • Only one of two missions owned by the state of California.
  • Was the Civilian Conservation Corps largest restoration project to date. It drew national attention for it's quality.
  • 507 acres of dedicated state park.
